File/Directory naming guidelines
Use the base domain name without the top-level domain. For example: Bootstrap's website is www.getbootstrap.com, so the
directory and logo handle should be getbootstrap.
If the home page is a subdirectory or subdomain, put an underscore and then the subdirectory/subdomain.
Image guidelines
One of the key reasons for VectorLogoZone is a visually consistent look. These are the guidelines for making images.
Detailed rules:
- Do not reference external fonts in
.svgfiles: convert to curves. However, document the name (and url) of the font. - Add a shadow or outline if there are white elements/edges so logos look good on a light background.
- Make the background transparent.
- Include the original file with
_srcsuffix (if legally possible). Document the url where you found it.
Images to make
Rectangle
Logo and text in a rectangle with a 2:1 aspect ratio. Image should include padding.
Image should have padding
Image must be 120px wide by 60px tall
Icon
Logo, no text, in a 64x64 canvas with no excess padding
Image should go all the way to the edge: no extra whitespace/padding.
Image should be 32px square
Icon
Same as icon, but just white: no color and no background
Image
Logo, no text, 64 high, width adjusted to logo width
Vertical Badge
Vertical badge with logo above text, some padding.
The image can be wider or narrower. Image should be padded and centered. Logo and text should be properly proportioned.
Tile
Large tile with background to look good as a button or with other background colors.
Horizontal
Similar to the 2:1 rectangle, but no limit on width to accomodate longer names.
Leave the appropriate padding if the characters do not have ascenders or descenders.
Text font size should be 64px. See the template below.
Official Logo
Official logo, as provided by the owner, but cropped and resized to max of 256.
Wordmark
Just the name in the appropriate font in black, 40 high.
Leave the appropriate padding if the characters do not have ascenders or descenders.
Text font size should be 64px. See the template below.
Template
The text in the horizontal and wordmark versions should be 64px high.
If the text does not have any letters with descenders, the bottom of the text should be at 16px. I.e. 15px of whitespace below the text.
If the text does not have any letters with ascenders, the top of the text should be at 50px. I.e. 14px of whitespace above the text.
If the logo is bigger than the text, the image can be bigger as well.
If the font has strange proportions (or is too light or dark), the size can be adjusted so it is visually similar to the guidelines.
